Kingdom Homes have an interactive digital ‘experience table’ which is aimed at helping older people – including those with dementia – improve memory recall, brain function and communication. The ‘experience table’ looks just like a real table but with a digital touch screen surface in the middle. The table offers a wide range of entertaining interactive activities from Sudoku, drawing and colouring, to reading about local history and listening to familiar tunes from the 60’s and 70’s. Residents can play alone, with friends and family – or in the below instance – other residents and staff.
The interactive table has helped residents who may be otherwise withdrawn to become more engaged with those around them. It has encouraged curiosity and more importantly – brought more fun in to the home. The table can be lowered, raised, tilted and spun which allows even those who are bed-bound or have decreased mobility to have access. Wherever the table is being used you can hear laughter and where there is no laughter – there is singing.
Kingdom Homes are always looking for the next step in providing the best experiences for our residents. The digital table is one of these steps and we are excited for all our residents to use the new equipment.
