Jean Guthrie, who lives at Camilla House in Auchtertool, remembers her brother John Whitelaw fondly and is very proud of his footballing achievements.
On hearing this Paula Paterson, our Activities and Events Manager, contacted the local club and their historian John Greer pulled together a biography of Jock as he was known from the team’s archives. Jock was one of Raith Rovers best ever players signing for the team back in 1937 and scoring during his debut match. Jock made 92 appearances for Raith Rovers and was a top goal scorer for the team.
Paula had the story made up into a plaque which was presented to Jean so that she can display it in her room and remember her bother’s football career.
Jean’s sons Ian and Brian and her grandson Neil were present when she received the framed biography
