On becoming part of the Kingdom Homes group of care homes in 2002, Fernlea House residential care home in Cardenden was extensively refurbished to ensure it met the high standards demanded by Kingdom Homes.
Originally a house built in the early 1900’s, Fernlea has seen two major extensions to the original building since being converted to a care home. Retaining a homely atmosphere the care home is subject to regular redecoration and refurbishment.
With great importance placed on residents and staff safety, the care home is fitted with swing-free door closers linked to the fire detection system and a sprinkler system.
All Fernlea’s public rooms, including the lounges and dining areas are on the ground floor with access to the mature garden areas via patio doors. Bedrooms on the upper floor are accessed by a lift.
Although sitting at the heart of the community of Cardenden, Fernlea House has immediate access to country park walks.
With regular outings to the shops, shows and other places of interest on the company’s minibus, there is always plenty to do. Residents may also take part in a very busy schedule of events from exercise classes to reminiscence sessions, crafts and games within the home. Concerts with professional entertainers are also a regular feature at Fernlea House.
