Barrogil House
Fabric Inspections
As mentioned in May's update, Margaret and I have been visiting all of our homes over the past few weeks to identify those which would benefit from some redecoration and improvements. One of the biggest refurbishment programmes will be carried out at Barrogil House in Cluny.
The carpeting in the public rooms and corridors is being replaced. We will also take the opportunity to fully redecorate the corridors, renew all internal doors and ironmongery and upgrade the lighting throughout the building. Where bedrooms require redecorating, residents will be able to choose from a range of colour schemes to suit their own tastes.
So that we cause as little disturbance as possible to residents, the work will be restricted to one area of the home at a time and will be phased over a six month period which should be completed in time for Christmas.
Central Laundry
Overall responsibility for the central laundry is now held by Mark Binnington, Facilities Manager. Gail McAdam, Manager at Preston House where the laundry is situated previously held that role however I feel that the laundry function falls more naturally into Mark's role within the company.
Day to day operation of the laundry remains the responsibility of Kevin Payne who has done a great job getting the laundry up and running in such a short period of time. Kevin is still the first point of contact for queries relating to the laundry.
Methven House Inspection
I am delighted to report that Methven House achieved very good scores following the announced inspection by the Care Commission on 8th June and joins Alexander House and Camilla House who also achieved straight fives in their last inspections. Well done to the management and staff at all three nursing homes who should be proud of these achievements.
