Kingdom Homes
…where care is our watchword of old…
Since opening their first care home in Kirkcaldy in 1984, Kingdom Homes Ltd has followed a continual expansion plan in line with developing legislation and best practice thinking within the care industry. Nowadays the company lists nursing homes, residential care homes and specialist dementia care facilities within their ever growing portfolio. Methven House was the original home located in Sang Road, Kirkcaldy but the present Methven House, a nursing facility which was built in 2005 and opened in the September of that year, now occupies a prime site on nearby Bennochy Road, Kirkcaldy.
Safety First!
"Mr and Mrs Smart have to be highly commended for the installation of a £60,000 state of the art sprinkler system - probably a first for Fife and the whole of Scotland," said Fife Fire and Rescue Service Divisional Officer Kenny Moran (pictured left with Colin Smart).
"They are leading the way, underlining the priority they are placing on the safety of each and every one of their residents."
All Kingdom Homes care facilities now benefit from the safety of a sprinkler system.
Barrogil House, located in Cluny on the outskirts of Kirkcaldy was the second to come into the fold, followed by Craigie House in Crossgates. Both of these homes provide residential care facilties.
Fernlea House in Cardenden was the fourth property and was added to the company's residential care facilities. In February, 2006, the company added Camilla House in Auchtertool providing nursing care for residents there.
More recently, Alexander House Nursing Home in Crossgates, built at a cost in excess of £2 million, welcomed their first residents in autumn 2007.
Preston House Nursing Home in Glenrothes was opened in November 2009. The facilities there underline the commitment of the company to provide the finest surroundings at the forefront of care in Fife.
The most recent addition to the company's portfolio is Roselea House in Cowdenbeath, opened in April 2010, which is dedicated to providing care for individuals with dementia related illnesses.
Like the famous Forth Bridge at the heart of the company brand, Kingdom Homes Ltd properties all enjoy on-going refurbishment programmes to ensure that they continually offer residents the highest standard of accommodation within a warm, friendly and, above all, caring environment.
Kingdom Homes Ltd has long been recognised as being among the best care providers in the country. An article in the Dundee Courier dated 26th March 2010 states "Fife care services are the best in Scotland with the biggest percentage of highly-rated facilities and the third lowest proportion of poorly-rated services." As the largest independant provider of care for the elderly in Fife, Kingdom Homes Ltd is clearly a major contributor to achieving these excellent results for the region.
Proprietors of Kingdom Homes Ltd, Colin and Margaret Smart insist upon a high standard of staff training with their own dedicated training centre and highly qualified training manager. Smart Training was created by the forward-thinking management team in 2005 to ensure the provision of the best care in the best homes with the best staff, underlining their on-going commitment to place the care of residents at the heart of everything they do.
Safety standards too go above and beyond those required by law with Fife Fire and Rescue Service among the first to praise Kingdom Homes Ltd for their determination to lead the way where important safety measures are available.
Comfort and care come together at all Kingdom Homes Ltd properties with home cooking and baking contributing to their recipe for success. The emphasis is always placed firmly on freshness and with their team of expert chefs always willing to cater for any special dietary requirements, all residents enjoy a well balanced and varied diet.
All the homes enjoy a wide range of activities encompassing everything from reminiscence sessions to regular outings to the shops, shows and other places of interest, with a specially-sculpted outreach programme making regular use of the company's luxury mini-coaches.
Each Kingdom Homes Ltd property is blessed with landscaped and well-maintained garden areas where residents can enjoy a seat or an invigorating walk, surrounded by seasonal plants set in a sea of colour.
Each care home has experts available to pamper from everything from hairdressing to chiropody and medical support to in-house entertainment, all of which ensures a right royal welcome awaits everyone who chooses a Kingdom Homes Care Home.
